First Conference for Newly Formed District 7815 a Success

This June, Greater Moncton Rotary Clubs hosted the very first District Conference of our newly formed District 7815. Multiple clubs in the area had members who worked as a team to create an engaging and inspirational weekend. It was wonderful to meet Rotarians from so many Atlantic Canadian Clubs.

Harvey Bass, our 2022/2023 District Governor led the event. Also in attendance was District Governor Elect, Roger Sevigny. Past 7810 District Governors, Darren Hansen and Noel Eustace also attended. All four of these Rotarians have worked tirelessly, along with their counterparts from District 7820 (Doug Curtis & Ian Doyle), to facilitate the transition to our brand new District 7815. Of course, there were many many others, but there isn’t room in this blog article to name them all.

Since it was such a momentous occasion, we were honoured to have Rotary International Representative Carol Tichelman attend. Carol traveled all the way from Chilliwack, BC and was an engaging speaker as well as extremely personable.

The weekend started off with some fellowship on Friday evening at several restaurants around town. Attendees could choose which they wanted to go to, and meet others from all across District 7815.

The conference involved discussions about the following Rotary Action Plan:
1. Increase Our Impact
2. Expand Our Reach
3. Enhance Participant Engagement
4. Increase Our Ability To Adapt

We also learned from several excellent speakers on topics such as Peace Education (Anne-Marie Collette), Peace Leadership (Mike Randall), District Grants Training (Robbie Griffin), Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility Awareness (Jillian Gibson) and a Water Project in Durban, South Africa (Joop Ueffing).

Kudos to the committee that made our District Conference 2023 happen! The event was fun and very well-organized. Interactive time was mindfully included for discussions, fellowship and forming new friendships. Attendees left at the end of the weekend looking forward to next year’s District Conference in Saint Pierre & Miquelon. Hope to see you there!
