Volunteers Needed…
September is Rotary Literacy month! Legs for Literacy is a popular 5k, 10k, half and full marathon race held each year to support literacy initiatives here in Moncton. What a better way to show our support for this initiative than volunteering for the event. We need voluneers to hand out water and cheer on runners on October 4, 2026. Contact Anissa for details
Why should you volunteer for Empower hour? Here's the feedback
Friday went very well. We had about seven youth attend the session and pay attention. It was about finding your voice and learning to speak through that anxiety. Several youth really bought into the topic and began discussing personal situations that were similar and then proceeded to work through those moments with Sherry and come up with some workable solutions to try in their own time to find a successful voice for themselves. They thanked her for the time she spent presenting and helping them with real world scenarios.
In the pasts sessions our youth attended the bee session and fell in love with the information presented and some expressed interest in visiting the gentleman’s farm to learn and see more.
The financial advice session was small but a couple of youth began paying a little more attention to how they are spending their money and on what as they are planning for the next step of their journey in an apartment with a new one on the way.
The session with Noel about giving back to your community again was a little small with about 4 in attendance . However, one youth present at that session was fascinated with Noel and everything that he had done and continues to do to help others. What was most important to them from this time together was that Noel was willing to remain for an additional hour and discuss giving back further with this youth and now this youth had expressed to me that they are actively researching ways to volunteer and give back.
