Rotary Club of
Moncton West & Riverview

Hello fellow Rotarians:

This Friday we will be meeting at Legends and our speaker will be Tom Toner, who will be speaking about the Riverview Recreation Complex. Social distancing and public health protocols must be followed. Those that are uncomfortable meeting in person can join using Zoom at the following link:

Please consider joining our new environmental service project crew! You don’t have to commit to every week… just come on a day you are free! We meet on Saturday mornings between 8:30 and 10:30 unless it’s raining. Then we do it on Sunday instead. Would really love to see you in person, so please consider lending a hand 😊.  Please email, text, or call Erin Hansen (info in ClubRunner) to find out the venue and whether or not it’s going ahead this Saturday or Sunday.

RotarayMWR Ticket Draw, spring 2021:  The Rotary MWR Ticket Draw Committee with Juergen, Andrew, Ian, Mel & Michael worked hard this year to get our annual Ticket Draw finally on the road. Mark Friday, June 4 in your calendar. A lot of thinking went into the project, about the time in the year, about Covid etc. etc. We want to embrace this project and use it as an opportunity to do something together again.
  • Rotary MWR needs some "we-power"!
  • The community organisations need our support.
  • We are confident that with everyone's help we will accomplish great goals.
Over $44,000 in prizes including a $5,000 cash prize. Tickets will be available this Friday.

MWR Rotary are donating $2600 to purchase 2 oxygen concentrators to help India deal with the COVID-19 virus surge that is sweeping the country. These units are portable and will serve many in the coming weeks and months. Here is the message from PRID Ashok Mahajan, Chair of the India Covid Task Force:
"One of the avowed objectives of the Task Force is to help establish “ROTARY OXYGEN BANKS” in every metropolis in India. We aim to set up a Bank of Oxygen Concentrators in each city. The Bank would loan an Oxygen Concentrator to a patient in need, with the proviso that after the immediate crisis is over, the concerned person would return the Concentrator to the Oxygen Bank. Such a Bank would be of help to a large number of people over an extended period of time.
Hopefully, this devastating wave of the COVID Pandemic would abate in a while. After that, the Oxygen Bank would be of immense value for any subsequent wave and would be a sensible fall-back option. The Oxygen Bank would also be of immense value to economically disadvantaged individuals suffering from ILD (Interstitial Lung Disease) or other Chest ailments that require Oxygenation for the patient.”

Our Rotary Atlantic Conference - Rotary Reimagined & “A Round with Rotary” is scheduled for May 14th & 15th on Zoom. Terry MacDonald sent an email with the information and links to join. You can attend either event or both. How about joining your fellow Rotarians and non-Rotarians for a chance to reimagine service above self through Rotary’s Reimagined conference May15 ,2021. Hear speakers on a wide range of topics from peace to mental health techniques and for the future of Rotary in 2041!  We have often heard that Rotarians want to have social time with other Rotarians and Friends.  They have added a special evening the night before the conference on May 14th called “A Round with Rotary”. This will be an interesting event so let’s all plan to attend.

The Rotary licence plates that were ordered for your vehicles have arrived. I will bring them to the next couple of meetings and distribute to those that attend. If you ordered them, please contact me to make arrangements to pick them up. The cost will be added to your invoice, so you don’t need to bring payment.

Please keep safe and I hope to see you soon.
