1. The District AGM was held on Tuesday, October 17, at 6:30 pm ADT. Moncton West & Riverview was well-represented; I think there were seven RotaryMWR attendees. One observation: the District membership was reduced compared to last year by nearly 100 members. 1,857 members last year compared to this year's 1,750.   From Rotary International's perspective, you may find the newly updated presentation on The State of Membership by following this link. In short, the presentation shows that between July 1, 2022 and July 1, 2023 there are 11 additional clubs, and (2)12,614 less members. Let's work toward reversing that trend.

2. Rotary Leadership Institute ("RLI") classes are being offered in Kentville, Nova Scotia on October 21, 2023. Levels 1, 2, and 3 are being offered. This program was founded to assist in improving Rotary knowledge and leadership skills of the future leaders of Rotary clubs. It's a great way to learn more about Rotary and also network with like-minded rotarians from around the district.

 

3. Have you seen Karla McLean's email asking for your support in the "Pints for Polio" event? This is a great initiative and well timed with World Polio Day (October 24, 2023). Here is a link to reserve an appointment / join a team:

 

 

4. The Club's board of directors welcomes Ian Franklin as Foundation Chair. Just in time for Foundation Month (November). Ian does a lot for this club and takes on the role with the intent to train, or help train, a long-term successor.

 

5. Looking ahead, please mark these dates in your calendars:

- December 1, 2023: Club's Christmas Party. 

 

- December 15, 2023: club's Annual General Meeting. The bylaws provide that at a regular meeting one month prior to the meeting for election of officers, the presiding officer shall ask for nominations by members of the club for secretary; it is now time to start thinking about filling this important role.

 

- January 5, 2023: New Year's Levee at Brix. 

 

- January 26, 2023: Charter Night at Spruce & Iron (Moncton Golf Club). 

 

- June 14-16: District Conference is in St. Pierre & Miquelon
