In 2019, the Rotary Gateway was removed by the Town of Riverview to protect it from the construction of Bridgedale Boulevard. David Shea confirmed the Town of Riverview took photos of the Rotary Gateway prior to removal and placed all materials in storage. The Rotary Gateway will be reinstalled by the Town of Riverview at the entrance of the new Riverview Recreation Complex in 2027 and included in Phase 2 landscaping tender. Location of Rotary Gateway to be discussed with RCMWR prior to installation.
Phase 1 tender includes the construction of the new Recreation Complex building and parking lot. Construction is to commence in the Fall 2024 and be completed by the Fall 2026. See attached presentation for further details on this future project.

2024 Rotary Charity Classic
On August 29, 2024, the Moncton West and Riverview Rotary Club celebrated a Milestone Achievement at their Annual Golf Tournament held at Royal Oaks Golf Club:
Over $1 Million Raised for Local Charities"
“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the continued generosity of our community,” said Jamie Smith, Chairperson of this year’s tournament. “Reaching this $1 million milestone is a testament to the dedication and compassion of everyone involved in this event. Each year, our supporters show up with enthusiasm and a shared commitment to making a difference. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without them.”
IG Wealth Management continued sponsorship of the annual Rotary Golf Tournament for over 15 years. IG Wealth Management played a vital role in the success of this cherished event, fostering goodwill and making a lasting difference in creating a positive change within our communities.
This year’s tournament included a Silent and Live Auction. Total of 144 golfers came together for a day of fun, friendly competition and, most importantly, making a difference in the lives of these we serve. Our Rotary Club commenced this fundraising event for 27 years

Featured Rotarian of the Week - Bill de Groot

Bill de Groot was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. He owned and operated a successful sports and marketing business for many years that took him to sporting events all over North America. During this time when Bill was not working, he donated his time and resources to the Canadian Cancer Society, Dreams Take Flight, The Salvation Army, and Ronald McDonald House just to name a few. In addition, he also served on numerous Boards and Committees.
Looking for a slower, more relaxed pace of life Bill moved to New Brunswick in 2021 where he and his wife Adriana now call home. Now living in Cap Pele, Bill enjoys spending time walking on the beach with his Black Lab Abena, barbequing and smoking delicious types of meat or fish and enjoying a glass of whiskey or wine while relaxing with friends.
In early 2023, Bill joined PAL Airlines as their Manager of Sales & Business Development. His territory covers Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, Newfoundland & Labrador. His clients include some of the largest corporations, associations, mines and energy providers in North America and with this his schedule is very hectic and demanding with numerous events and business trips per month.
Bill loves being part of our Rotary Club because of the impact we make in the community and help make a difference in the lives of the people who live here and the surrounding areas.
