Dear Rotarians!

We did it again. The 9th Rotary RibFest in our 10th year since 2014. Sandy even tamed the weather gods. As a result, more than 26,700 patrons passed the gates from Thursday to Sunday. Notable that after all, we had pretty much most volunteer shifts covered, as many of us also showed up for double and triple shifts and some even more. First calculations show that we generated a profit of around $60,000 for our charitable causes. What a way for our club to finish the Rotary year.

Thank you to all who came out and lend a hand and participated. More details about the RibFest will be shared this Friday.

As this will be my last meeting as your president I want to thank all of you who supported me. At times it wasn't easy, but we accomplished a lot and it turned out to be a great year, which marked the 50th anniversary of our Rotary Club of Moncton West & Riverview.
• A first complete year with regular meetings in person, and no meeting was missed.
• The revival of our core committees "Foundation" (Lisa Gallagher), "International" (Sherry Mourant) and "Public Image" (Karla McLean)
• Plus, we enjoyed our Youth Exchange program again.
• Three successful fundraisers with more than $160,000 in profit for charity.
• Fun and engaging social activities. Everybody was happy to get out again. ... Golf / Lobster Party / Car Rally / Christmas Party / St Patrick's Day / Whiskey tasting / Guess who is coming for dinner ...
• A really classy charter day event - our meeting on January 27th - with story telling and memories, which many had commented on that they could have gone on for a lot longer (listening and telling). This was a very inspiring meeting, not only for our younger members.
• A 50th Anniversary Gala event with outstanding comedian James Mullinger and The Mellotones. More than 230 guests attended.
• Exceptional community involvement with many volunteer hours at our schools and in support of the recycling program for BGC Riverview.

A special THANK YOU goes to the Executive and the Board Members, as well as to all the Committee Chairs. You put in a lot of time and you all did a stellar job. It was energizing to see the way you produced results and a privilege to work with you.

For me to say: I learned a lot about myself and about Rotary. I hope that somewhere along this eventful year you experienced a Rotary moment as RI President Jennifer Jones has simply suggested Imagine Rotary.

I am not quite finished yet. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Friday.

Juergen Weiland
