Every year on March 8, 2025, we celebrate International Women's Day. It is a global day recognizing the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, while also advocating for gender equality and women's rights. I am hoping you all took the opportunity to celebrate this very special day.
Congratulations to Moncton Cares who proudly hosted on March 9, 2025, the inaugural She Cares event, a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to empowering women, fostering connections, and supporting local businesses.
As the first event of its kind in Greater Moncton, She Cares brought together women from diverse backgrounds for an inspiring day of discussions, entrepreneurship, community building and great entertainment as noted in the photos below.
World Rotaract Week
Every year, Rotaractors and Rotarians around the world celebrate World Rotaract Week during the week of 13 March to commemorate the founding of the first club in 1968. World Rotaract Week is a time for celebrating the success and importance of the Rotaract program.

Profession - Shoe Store Owner - now retired after 27 years as a small business owner and 17 years in the petroleum business as a marketing manager.
About me -Born in Trinidad and Tobago I left home at age 14 to complete my schooling in United Kingdom where I finished a business degree at Southampton University.
Emigrated to Canada in 1970 and finished a Bachelor of Commence in marketing at St. Mary’s University where I met Debbi the love of my life. We have been married for 50 years with two daughters and four grandchildren and live in beautiful Shediac Cape with our Westie and Maine Coon cat.
Years in Rotary? I have been a member of MWR Rotary club for 32 years where I was President in 2003 / 2004 and served on various committees over that time.
My Hobbies: I enjoy golf, sailing, travelling and spending time with family and friends.
What is your favorite thing about being a Rotarian? Rotary has allowed me to meet many fabulous people from all walks of life and from many different countries and learn about all the different areas in the world where Rotary helps.
Tell us something others might not know about you? What most would not know about me is my Grandfather on my mother's side was a schooner captain and sailed throughout the Caribbean carrying sugar cane, vegetables, salt and fruit on his schooner “Warspite”.
March 7, 2025, Meeting Update
RCMWR members enjoyed two excellent presentations at last week's luncheon meeting.
First presentation was provided by Rotarian Jesse Kerpan, Chair of the Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) Committee. Did you know RCMWR has been a leader and champion in RYE for 25+ years.

Second presentation was "Project 1010 Senior Centre" completed by Lois Scott and Dr. Sarah Lord. These two ladies are incredible advocates for seniors in our community.
Lois Scott – A trailblazer in telecare services and a leader in health care, education, and business development. She was invested into the Order of New Brunswick for her contributions to the province’s well-being. As President of The Moncton Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae, she is championing the re-establishment of a dedicated Seniors Centre in Moncton.
Dr. Sarah Lord – Health & Wellness Coordinator at Jean Coutu Pharmacy in Riverview and long-time advocate for seniors’ health and wellness. Sarah has been instrumental in efforts to create a new Project 1010 Seniors Centre, ensuring local seniors have a space for connection, activities, and support.
