Hello Fellow Rotarians,

First things, first:

This Friday's meeting is the Moncton West Rotary Charities Annual General Meeting (AGM).

As noted by John Wishart (Secretary for the Charity) by email, we must have a quorum of 50 per cent of members (plus one) to conduct business at the AGM, so please attend this week's meeting if you can.  The AGM and the Annual Report also provides us an opportunity to remind ourselves and re-center on all the important work our club members do for our community.

For those of you who were at the last two meetings, you are aware that we were running into dates conflicts between the City of Moncton and the Ribbers for 2026 Ribfest, putting Ribfest in jeopardy. Darren Hansen, who will be the Chair for Ribfest 2026, has since updated me that we now have confirmed dates for RIBFEST of THURSDAY, JUNE 18th to SUNDAY JUNE 21st, 2026.

Since the status of this fundraiser has been in a bit of flux, we had planned to have a “working session” for our club to gather feedback and ideas regarding Ribfest and its future for our Club.  As most of you know, we have been organizing Ribfest for the past 11 years, and while it is a great event and fundraiser, it hasn't been without its challenges, especially in recent years in filling volunteer spots.  We believe we should still take this opportunity to discuss Ribfest with all Club members. This meting will occur at our regular lunch meeting on October 24th.

Our first “Guess Who's Coming to Dinner” occurred on Saturday, September 20th and fun was and by all!  Giant thanks to Noel and Karen Eustace and Maria and Julianna Mutch for hosting as well as to all the guests for attending and bring items to contribute to the meals. Here are a few pictures from the dinners:

…. And, I think we'll need an update this week about these hats and ties….
Want to be part of “Guess who's coming to dinner next time”?  Mark your calendars, as we are tentatively booked for the next installment for Friday, April 10th, 2026 (note: we will not have a regular lunch meeting this day, as we move to have more social events on days when we can't use either Legends or Meeting Room D).

Greater Moncton Sunrise Rotary Club Trivia Night - Fostering fellowship and support among Rotary clubs

The trivia night hosted by the Greater Moncton Sunrise Rotary Club on September 22nd  was a great success and a fun night!
Our members Noel Eustace and his wife Karen, as well as Anissa Mustafa and her son Roberto participated. The competition was close, and after 25 questions, there were three teams tying for first place with 17 correct answers – including Noel and Anissa's teams! It was an evening full of laughter, fellowship, and Rotary spirit. Rotary clubs supporting each other!

Rotarians Volunteer with Sleep in Heavenly Peace – Moncton Chapter

Rotary members Roberto Palma and Anissa Mustafa,  recently volunteered with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a fast-growing charity that builds and delivers bunk beds for children in need across Moncton, Riverview, and Dieppe. Roberto and Anissa took part in a hands-on bed-building session, helping to ensure that every child has a safe and comfortable place to sleep.

Each delivery includes a complete set;  bunk bed, mattresses, sheets, and quilts ; all assembled and provided by volunteers. We’re proud to see our members making a difference, one bed at a time.  To find out more about this organization and volunteer opportunities, check out: NB-Moncton | Sleep in Heavenly Peace

Hope to you each of you at LEGENDS on Friday!

Yours in Rotary,
Catherine
