Next Luncheon (12 noon)

Alma City Club

114 Alma Street

Moncton, NB

Dear Fellow Rotarians:

One year ago, President Sherry Trenholm had the privilege of attending the Rotary International Convention in Singapore alongside 20,000 fellow Rotarians from around the globe.

It was truly a life-changing experience — a powerful reminder of Rotary’s global reach and impact.

From the vibrant House of Friendship, where meaningful connections were formed, to the awe-inspiring Rotary International Flag Ceremony featuring representatives from 194 countries, every moment was unforgettable.

The event was packed with thought-provoking presentationsincredible entertainment, and the shared energy of people united in service.

As we approach June, I’m filled with excitement and anticipation to reconnect with friends old and new at the upcoming Rotary International Convention in Calgary. The countdown is on!

Rotarian of the Week

Dawn Arnold

Profession: Canadian Senator

About:
As a recovering “snobby Upper Canadian” (I grew up in Ontario), I’ve spent the last 28 years in Moncton as a community builder – 15 years as a volunteer at the Frye Festival, 13 years as a municipal politician (4 as a Councillor and 9 as Mayor). On March 7, 2025, I was appointed to the Canadian Senate. My plan is to take all of the grassroots knowledge that I’ve gained in our community and represent Monctonians, and New Brunswickers in Ottawa, as a member of the chamber of “sober second thoughts”.

Years in Rotary
Rotarian for 9 years and 8 months.

Over the years I’ve participated in pizza days and the making of lunches at Edith Cavell School, prepped and served breakfasts at Forest Glen School, sold tickets and of course, I’ve collected funds at the entrances to Ribfest for a number of years!

Hobbies:
Reading, hiking, cycling, gardening, playing piano.

Favourite thing:
A non-political safe space to meet with community leaders who want to affect positive change in the world.

Something others may not know about me:
I didn’t grow up in a political family and have absolutely no idea how my parents/family voted!

Rocio Rodriguez: An Inspiring Journey with Rotary Youth Exchange

Rocio Rodriguez, a RotaryMWR Youth Exchange student, recently delivered an inspiring presentation reflecting on her transformative Rotary year. She shared heartfelt stories about her wonderful families Rotarian Noel and Karen Eustace and, Rotarian Nadine Larche, as her daughters and parents, who warmly welcomed Rocio into their family.

During her exchange, Rocio fully embraced Canadian traditions, from celebrating Thanksgiving and Sunday suppers to enjoying Christmas and Easter with her host family.

She also dove into new and exciting activities like attending hockey games, skiing, snowshoeing, and participating in Rotary weekends.

One of the highlights of her year was traveling across Canada. Rocio had the chance to explore Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, and Halifax, creating unforgettable memories along the way.

So, how did the Rotary Youth Exchange impact Rocio’s life?

The experience significantly improved her English-speaking skills, boosted her confidence, and nurtured her independence.

Rocio’s journey is a shining example of how Rotary Youth Exchange can open hearts, broaden horizons, and change lives.
