Welcome to the new Rotary Year! As your new President for 2025-2026, it’s an honour to begin this Rotary year with gratitude, optimism, and a shared and renewed commitment to service.
I’d like to start by introducing and thanking our 2025-2026 Board of Directors:
Anissa Mustapha (Chair, Community Services) John Wishart (Chair, Programming)
(Please note that we are still transitioning roles and some members of the board may not be fully acting in their role until September.)
Thank you all for answering the call to lead. Your commitment helps maintain and continue to build a strong, vibrant club rooted in friendship and trust. Additionally, I want to thank all committee members, the leads for our service projects, and the leads of our major fundraisers for your continued commitment to service above self.
As well, I wanted to let you all Darren Hansen has stepped up to be the Chair for Rotary Ribfest 2026! It is great to have someone take over leading this important event with lots of runway! Colin Reeves, and all involved, did a great job with Ribfest this year and paved a great path for our club to continue with this very successful event. Thank you to everyone who helped! Of note, Ribfest 2026 is scheduled to be Thursday, June 25th to Sunday June 28th in 2026 (there was an error in the calendar I circulated in June).
This year, Rotary International's theme is “Unite for Good.” It’s a simple yet powerful reminder that lasting change happens when we come together—whether welcoming a new member, launching a service project, or tackling a global challenge. We won’t always get it perfect, but through unity, compassion, and shared purpose, we do something remarkable: we lead by example.
Let’s also take time this month to reflect on Rotary’s July theme: Maternal and Child Health. Across the globe, too many children still die from preventable causes like malnutrition and poor sanitation. As Rotarians, we have the power to support life-saving programs that give mothers and children a healthier, brighter future.
We are just over a week away for our first Social event of the Rotary year - our FUN GOLF TOURNAMENT! This year's tournament is July 18th at the Hillsborough Golf Club, with tee-offs starting around 11:30 am.
So far we have 9 teams registered and another 6 coming for the dinner only. There is no additional charge for either the golf or dinner for Rotarians of our club; guests will be charged to recover costs only.
If you are interested in playing and/or dinner, please connect or email Jon Andrews at roguesailor@gmail.com
We will be making a meal for 20 people for the Moncton Family Room - Ronald McDonald House Charities® Atlantic on Wednesday, July 16th and still need a few volunteers. If you can help out from approximately 2 p.m.to 4:45p.m., please email cathyblack47@hotmail.com
This week's meeting will be held in Legends. Reminder, starting in August, our regular meeting location will be moving to Meeting Room D.
Let's start the Rotary year strong and together, embrace Rotary’s vision:
“We see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.”
Let’s make that vision real. Let’s Unite for Good.
Yours in Rotary,
Catherine Black
President, Rotary MWR
