April 25,2025, RCMWR Meeting Update
Guest speaker Sister Aurea Cormier (pictured below) shared the incredible vision behind Housing for Life, Inc. An inspiring initiative committed to building affordable, energy-efficient housing for women and children in the Greater Moncton area.
With a foundation rooted in compassion and community, this project is more than bricks and mortar, it’s about creating safe, inclusive spaces where women can thrive.
From thoughtful design by 46 North Design Studio to a dedicated contractor in Donna Ferguson of SheBuilds Communities For Life, Inc., every detail reflects a deep commitment to dignity and sustainability.
Sister Aurea reminded us of Margaret Mead’s powerful words: “Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” And this team is doing just that. (Article Author Stacey Couturier, Public Image Chair)
April 25, 2025 the RCMWR celebrated Barbara Elias 92nd birthday along with all the Rotarians born in the month of April.
Barbara is an extraordinary woman and devoted Rotarian. Her dedication, compassion and vibrant spirit continue to inspire everyone around her.
For Barbara’s birthday she donated a beautiful couch throw quilt to the weekly club 50/50 fundraiser to help raise funds for a future RCMWR cause or project. The lucky 50/50 and quilt winner was Rotarian Don Botten who is shown below modelling the quilt with Barbara. Don Botten won the 50/50 and will receive $185.50 in the near future.
Total revenue from the 50/50 last week was $254.00 minus the funds going to winner Don Botten. Total $127 is available for future RCMWR projects.
Barbara thank you for donating the beautiful couch throw quilt to the RCMWR and your lifetime of service and light you bring to our community. Wishing you a day filled with love, laughter, and joy - you deserve it all! (RCMWR President Sherry Trenholm)
Rotary Youth Exchange Adventure

Trip to Montreal: A Heartwarming Reunion (April 11–18, 2025)
My recent trip to Montreal was truly exciting and memorable. After more than seven months apart, I was finally reunited with my mom!
Nadine Larche, Alexa (my host sister), and I arrived in Montreal on April 11 and headed straight to the hotel to meet up with my mother. I was so excited to see her! Nadine’s sister and her nieces, whom I had met during our trip to Toronto in November, were also there for the first couple of days. It was such a joy to see everyone again—especially since it was my mom’s first time in Canada!
We spent the first three days exploring the city. From sightseeing to shared meals, it was a wonderful way to reconnect and make new memories.
Some of the highlights included attending mass at Basilique Notre-Dame de Montreal, walking through the Vieux Montreal, neighbourhoods filled with striking architecture, and spending time at Mont Royal, where there was still snow on the ground—something that amazed my mom!
We even got to attend an Explore NB Immersive experience tourism event that just so happened to be there when we were visiting so my mom got to see where I was living too. We even tried Lobster bisque and Lobster chips!
Next, we traveled to Quebec City, where we spent two days immersed in the city’s rich history and culture. We explored the cobblestone streets of Vieux Québec, taking in its old-world charm, quaint shops, and picturesque views. We sampled a variety of local dishes—including delicious poutine—and visited the iconic Château Frontenac, which offered breathtaking views of the city. My mom got to experience her first hockey game in a lively local Irish pub!
We returned to Montreal for the final stretch of the trip, where Nadine’s older two daughters, Mia and Lauren, met up with us. We continued exploring the city, visiting new neighborhoods and enjoying local cafés. One exciting moment was going on La Grande Roue, a huge Ferris wheel.
My favourite part of the trip was seeing how much we all enjoyed each other’s company and getting the chance to spend quality time exploring new parts of Canada.
