Well we have a date, time and location, all we need now is the scotch.
We will try to have a good selection available, some you might know, some you might not but all will be true to the scotch. For the well tested and novice alike, an evening of fellowship and taking a sip of these delights will be well worth the time.
Some of you have already expressed an interest but I am sending this to all club members in case other want to attend or have a significant other that might enjoy this evening as well.
It will be held May 7 at 6:30pm at the Moncton Masonic Club, 115 Queen St, Moncton, use the Alma St entrance. Price $40/each. Limited to around 30 people and we have about 15 or so already that have expressed an interest in attending so respond when you can. Bring $40 that night or etransfer me at nigeltsb@gmail.com
From the Highlands to the Lowlands, Speyside, Campbelton and Islay we shall take a journey and drift off to the moors afar. A chart is attached for your review.

The Canadian Masters National Weightlifting Championship

Jill Miller Has been associated with the sport of Olympic style weightlifting for 50 years and competing as a Master Athlete for 30 years. She along with her husband Ken have served as Competition Directors of the World Masters Weightlifting Championships, the Pan American Masters Weightlifting Championships, the Canadian Championships for elite athletes and over 30 years of annual provincial championship in Ontario, including many world championship qualifier events. Jill moved to New Brunswick with her husband in September 2020, taking up residence in Shediac. The move to this area was in part motivated by the growing strength of Weightlifting in the province and the desire to help move this even further forward. Jill is an international technical official for Weightlifting and has served in this role, north and south America, Asia and Europe. She is on her way to serve at the Commonwealth Games in August this year and her husband is currently in Mexico as an official at the Youth World Championship. Jill trains and certifies Weightlifting Coaches in the National Coaching Certification program.
Jill and Ken are no strangers to Rotary as Ken is the holder of the Paul Harris award and Jill & Ken were very involved with the Youth Exchange program for over 10 years hosting young people from, Denmark, Argentina, Taiwan, Brazil and the Philippines. |

Systemic Racism

Commissioner Manju Varma Bio From 2001-2008, she was an Assistant Professor with the University of New Brunswick. Later, she joined the Federal government and has worked at Canadian Heritage, Correctional Services Canada, and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) where she created and led the Office of Inclusion, Equity and Anti-Racism. She is also a certified Conflict Mediator (Harvard Law School) and Negotiator (Dalhousie University). Currently, she is a partner in Engaging Matters Diversity Consultants and is New Brunswick’s Commissioner on Systemic Racism; this position is the first of its kind in Canada.
Manju Varma, Ph.D, a déménagé au Canada avec sa famille à l’âge de deux ans et a grandi à Moncton, au Nouveau-Brunswick. Elle a obtenu son doctorat en éducation antiraciste de l’Ontario Institute in Education/Université de Toronto. Au cours des 30 dernières années, elle s’est concentrée sur les questions liées à la diversité et à l’antiracisme au Nouveau-Brunswick et a publié à l’échelle nationale et internationale sur les sujets de la santé mentale, de la diversité et des jeunes et de l’éducation antiraciste. De 2001 à 2008, elle a été professeure adjointe à l’Université du Nouveau-Brunswick à la faculté d’éducation. Elle a travaillé pour Patrimoine canadien et Service correctionnel Canada et à l'Agence de promotion économique du Canada atlantique (APECA), où elle a créé et dirigé le Bureau de l'inclusion, de l'équité et de la lutte contre le racisme. Elle est également une médiatrice de conflit certifiée (Harvard Law School) et une négociatrice (Université Dalhousie). Actuellement, elle est partenaire de la société Engaging Matters Diversity Consultants et Commissaire au racisme systémique du Nouveau-Brunswick ; ce poste est le premier du genre au Canada. |
